Licensed childcare on the TLC campus for infants, toddlers, and preschool children designed to meet the needs of formerly homeless children. EduCare provides a developmentally supportive environment, robust nutritional program, and trauma informed emotional support for this specific population of children.
We work to increase opportunities for individual achievement and to develop a stronger sense of individual value, empathy, and self awareness for each boy or girl who walks through our door. In 2022, 19 children received supportive care at EduCare.
Nurturing Environment
EduCare provides services seen in a typical preschool. You will find children coloring and learning their ABC’s during class. You will also find EduCare teachers that are qualified to help children recovering from the trauma of homelessness, or reconnecting with their moms. Teachers establish a positive partnership with parents to support the development, treatment and education of young children.
Part of that partnership includes parenting groups where moms meet with staff to learn healthy parenting strategies and skills, breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness. This enables our EduCare kiddos to flourish with stability in the classroom and at home.
The results from the Spokane 2019 Child Care Survey about child care access and barriers can help raise awareness about child care needs in the Spokane area, and inform programming decisions among child care providers. Click HERE to read the Child Care Survey in full.
